Happy hitmaker Pharrell Williams and his wife Helen Lasichanh have announced the arrival of triplets to their family. The couple, who already have a son Rocket, eight, had the three babies earlier this month, although their exact birthday has not been revealed.

It is not known yet whether the new arrivals are boys or girls, or what names have been chosen for the newborns. However, a spokesperson for the singer said that all were “happy and healthy”.

Helen was first spotted in public with a baby bump while attending a Chanel party in Los Angeles last September. Previously, loved-up Pharrell has spoken about how his model wife is his best friend, saying: “The bestie thing is awesome. Every night is like a sleepover.”

The couple have been married for more than three years and may well choose unusual names for their babies. Talking to Oprah, Pharrell explained that Rocket had been named in the same sort of tradition as Indians, who name their youngsters after a force, an animal or an element. The singer said the couple liked the idea of naming their son after something which was meant to ascend.

When three become six

The family has now quickly moved from being a family of three, to being a family of six. The news of triplets has come as a complete surprise to fans as, while the couple confirmed that Helen was pregnant, they kept quiet about how many babies she was expecting.

Pharrell has already spoken about how he has done a lot of growing up over the years. He said that when he first met his wife, she was dating someone else and was not interested in him, which was bruising to his ego. After two years, when she became single, they started dating, although Pharrell said it took some time for him to move on from his bachelor ways.
