Salem State Prof Part of World- Record-Setting Track Team

Salem State History Professor Andrew Darien, along with three teammates from Boston's Eliot Track Club (a master's club for those 40 and over), set both an American and a world record in the indoor distance medley relay on Jan. 27. Competing at Boston University's 2012 Terrier Invitational, Darien and his team lowered the distance medley relay best to 10.

Holidays Weren’t Merry for Lady Vikings’ Basketball

Leaving the locker room after losing both games of their own holiday tournament against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 79-67, and Rutgers Newark 73-53, they stood at 3-8. The Lady Vikings were faced with many questions such as, What can be done better? What's being done wrong? Is it us? Is it the coaching staff? The losing was also combined with an ultimatum from first-year coach Michelle Cunningham that if they can't bring anything new to the team in 2012, don't come back to practice.

Salem State University's men's basketball team is off to a scorching 4-1 start. They're not only beating their opponents, they are dominating them in every way. SSU is out scoring their opponents by an average of 18 points a game, and that isn't due to just great offense either.

Women’s Tennis Team Clinches First-Ever Little East Conf. Championship

The second-seeded Lady Vikings defeated the top seeded and defending champion Lady Bears of Bridgewater State University, 5-4, to clinch their firstever Little East Conference Championship on Oct. 25. Second singles was the final match of the day played by senior, tri-captain Lauren Turenne, versus Bridgewater senior, Bridget Murphy.
