Dear Editor,
It’s not every day that you walk by the Dining Commons at your local college and see a table with pictures outlining your president as equal to Hitler, but this is precisely the position that the LaRouche Political Action Committee assumed last week at Salem State. Viewing fellow students become outraged at the comparison to the Nazi/Reichstag leader Adolf Hitler to Obama, I decided to research and question the issue for more information. I argue that information is power, and the more information you know, the better informed you become to make intelligent decisions. Researching the LaRouche Campaign for me is only in the interest of the truth.
I don’t carry any affiliation other than journalistic experience into the matter. Browsing all of the literature available on both Obama’s Web site and LaRouche’s Web site, it’s very clear that the LaRouche campaign wants nothing more than to write slanderous materials for public outcry. When Obama published his concise points for his health care reform package, found at www.barackobama.com, it seems slightly biased for LaRouche’s campaign to continually target Obama's administration as fundamental to a “Nazi Health care System” if LaRouche won't provide reasons for his point of view.
If LaRouche’s activism campaign has any merit to it, I’d ask campaign members to provide a concise list of their points and not hide behind Hitler signs. To respect a viewpoint fully, you must understand that view and make an informed decision about it. I don't feel that LaRouche’s campaign shows enough credible facts to justify the claims they have made.
Come on, LaRouche: Spill the beans and stop hiding behind long-winded historical lectures with little to no relevance to today’s matters.
