A team of four Salem State University business students, led by senior accounting major Wendinyiide (Wendy) Tenkodogo and including graduate finance student Mohamed Camara, senior accounting student Satya Mourairou and continuing education student Aly Diarra recently competed in and won the Eastern Region National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) Student Case Competition.

They competed against seven teams from Bentley, three from Suffolk University and a second Salem State team, unseating Suffolk as champions for the first time since 2001. In addition, Wendy Tenkodogo was elected "Best Team Leader."

The competition was held as part of NABA's 27th Annual Minority Business Conference at State Street Corporation headquarters in North Quincy on Oct. 22.

It was judged by a panel of seven professionals representing institutions such as the internal revenue service, Ernst & Young, JPMorgan Hedge Fund Services, State Street Corporation, and the Bank of New York Mellon.

All four members of Salem State's winning team are international students at the university, representing Burkina Faso, the Republic of Guinea, Benin, and the Ivory Coast.

The Bertolon School of Business instills in its undergraduate and graduate business majors the development of strong business skills, sound ethics and a global world view.

As Salem State's largest undergraduate major, it attracts students—and faculty with diverse specialties—from across the region and throughout the world.
