After receiving numerous phone complaints, Police were called to the O'Keefe Center during the evening on Thursday, April 1st to investigate what residents of both Lussier Street and Day Avenue reported as "naked people running across the field" (Alumni Field).

Given the date and location, the Salem Police assumed that the disturbance was nothing more than SSC athletes streaking as an April Fool's Day prank.

The reality was much more dire than the responding officer had imagined.

Upon arriving on the scene, Officer Dave Megget noticed roughly 12 fully undressed females huddled on the far edge of Alumni Field bordering Day Avenue resident Desiree Washington's backyard. There were no athletic events that evening so the field's lights were off. In the police report, officer Megget was reported as calling out to the females and politely asking them to return to the building.

A collective nonsensical shriek was their only reply.

After several attempt to get the said females to return to the O'Keefe Center, officer Megget decided to approach them. It wasn't until he was close enough to shine the light in their faces that he noticed that they appeared to be frightened, and not amused. He immediately called for backup.

Officer Megget is reported as asking the alleged victims (who later were identified as the women's track team), "What's the problem, girls?"

To which one replied, frantically, "He's in there. He just walked into our locker room."
Officer Megget reports that the rest of the girls just nodded emphatically.

Several minutes later, an ambulance and three more police cruisers arrived on the scene. Officer Megget, along with three other officers entered the O'Keefe Center with guns drawn.

When they entered the women's locker room they found a man with his back turned to them going through one of the female's lockers.

Police reports and victim descriptions said that the alleged perpetrator was wearing a backwards gold hat and a motorcycle jacket.

When police told the man to freeze, he willingly turned around and held both hands in the air. Much to the officers' surprise, the alleged perpetrator was none other than Pittsburg Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

No charges were filed and a number of autographs were given.
