Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) No Man’s Sky is one of the big exclusives for the PlayStation 4 this year and fans have been eagerly waiting for the game’s release. There have been very few details revealed for the game so far and there has not been a release date announced for it either. As we wait for new announcements for the game, it looks like the game’s release date might have been leaked by a number of other sources.
According to recent reports, it looks like No Man’s Sky release date has been leaked by Sony itself, who accidentally put up the game for pre-order on its PlayStation Store, along with a post on the official PlayStation Blog. There was no release date mentioned on the blog post or the Store listing but moments later, an Amazon listing popped up which revealed the release date of No Man’s Sky to be June 21, 2016.
Interestingly, this release date does not seem to be a placeholder, since Amazon usually puts in a release date of 31 December 2016 if they do not know the release date of any game. Considering this fact, it seems that the release date of the game should be around the same window and it also coincides with the last rumor around the game from back in October 2015 where the game’s release date was leaked to be sometime in June 2016.
If this listing is indeed true, it seems like a great time to launch No Man’s Sky. It would be right after E3 happens this year and the release window has been used by many games in the past, including Last of Us and Batman Arkham Knight. The listed price of $60 looks very reasonable as well and judging by the diversity of the game, it is certainly going to be something else. That being said, we should keep in mind that this is just a rumor/leak right now and that nothing official has been revealed on the matter. Before jumping the gun on excitement, we should wait for an official statement from Hello Games and only then we can start the hype train for No Man’s Sky.
