Last week, Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced that the weekly iteration of “This Week on Xbox ” show will be going on a temporary hiatus to prepare for something special being planned for Tuesday, March 1.
Yesterday, a rumor popped up on the web claiming that Microsoft is going to be announcing Forza Horizon 3 this month. According to MondoXbox, an anonymous source close to Turn 10 Studios has confirmed that Microsoft will be using the Geneva Motor Show to unveil the new instalment in the popular racing franchise. The show is scheduled to run from March 3 to 13, suggesting that Nelson’s upcoming special episode of “This Week on Xbox” could be announcing the game first, leaving the Motor Show to give away additional trailers and details.
That being said, it’s also possible that the two are completely unrelated and Nelson has something entirely different to announce. The timing, though, is suspicious. Interestingly, there are already strong speculations that Microsoft is about to announce new backwards compatible games for the Xbox One console.
While many would be wondering why Microsoft couldn’t be just saving a Forza Horizon 3 announcement for its press briefing at E3 2016, note that Forza Motorsport 6 was also revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The company is not new to taking advantage of prestigious car shows to announce its new Forza games.
