According to Chicago Police, fifteen people were hurt while two were killed in city shootings which included an attack on 3 South Side beach visitors and a fatal police involved shooting.

Drive-by Shooting

A drive by shooting just after 7:50pm Sunday at Brighton Park, left a 34-year-old man and woman seriously injured. A dark colored SUV pulled up next to the couple as they were driving in the neighborhood and someone inside the SUV fired shots at them, said the police. Ambulance took them to Mount Sinai Hospital. The man was found dead the scene but was pronounced officially dead at the hospital.

At an earlier time, a man was killed confronting Chicago police, after firing at them at two incidents. He was holding his relatives hostage, said police after responding to a call from a woman in the Cragin neighborhood. The man was shot after the police pursued him.

Three people were shot at Rainbow beach in South Shore, which caused a panic in the popular summer destination. 15-year-old boy, a 20-year-old man and a 37-year-old man all suffered various gunshot wounds at the beach. All three’s conditions have stabilized after being taken to the hospital.

A single male attacker came up behind them and shot at them on foot, said police.

The 37-year old man shot was the cousin of Carl Flowers, a man at the beach with his family preparing a barbecue for his family and friends. Suddenly a hail storm of gunshots went off and bullets went through people and Flowers’ gray Chevy Impala. His cousin who was driving the impala was shot in the knee.

Other Victims

Among the other shooting victims was a 19-year-old shot while walking in Gresham neighborhood.

A 22-year old man and a 17-year-old boy shot in South Austin.

On South Side, two men aged 28 and 29 were shot while in their car at a stop light.

A 23-year-old man was shot in Englewood.

A 40-year-old man was seriously injured in Southwest Side.

In the Chicago Lawn area, a 28-year-old man was shot while walking down the street.

A 26-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were shot in West Garfield Park.

In Little Village, a 20-year-old man was shot twice in the leg.
